Central government has underfunded many councils and is the reason why a lot of councils are either bankrupt, in disrepair or public services cut. So it isn't a case of disinterest, it's a lack of funds. As for Reform UK LTD, I would have thought anyone with a long standing history of working with the police would have at least the basic common sense to not align themselves with a right party trading on nationalism, populism, racism and culture war. The party is ultimately controlled by it's largest shareholder, Nigel Farage (53%), so its a business that people subscribe to. This is the same Farage who has had links with the National Front, BNP, Conservates and even had an invite from Hitlers grand daughters finance minister to an AfD right wing rally in Germany. Even when he was an MEP he rarely bohter turning up for work and spent more time making money on the speakers trail in the state supporting Trump rather than being in the UK doing anything useful. Now that he sees Trump may not be quite as good a meal ticket as he thought he is back to milking the UK again. It's a pity you didn't stand as an independent because then you may have been more credible and believable, but standing shoulder to shoulder with failed politican Farage just makes you uncredible from the starting block. Sorry Dave, it's a no from me.

Labour have not represented me for decades, all my life I have lived on the Wirral . I’ve watched factory after factory close and Eagle turn up for a photo! Be brave and don’t be like sheep voting for who your parents and grandparents voted for. Give a fresh pair of eyes to represent us in Parliament, Eagle won’t worry she will be rewarded with a seat in the House of Lords even if she loses . I totally agree also other parts of Wirral to like west Wirral as well that also gets left behind to as you said we want to bring these changes to all Wirral not just Birkenhead. Wallasey's Labour representation has achieved little to no improvement over the years, if anything it has been managed decline. Same with Birkenhead, Labour again. Nothing to lose by changing in 2024 to vote Reform UK.

I can assure you life in Birkenhead was a lot better in the 80’s than now. People in their 20’s could get on the housing ladder. My nans house 19 Bidston ave Claughton sold for 19 thousand in 1989 a 3 bed terrace. These days about 170,000.

I was born and raised in bidston village in the early fifties my family farmed bidston hall farm and Stone farm in School Lane. From my memories that bridge is on bidston moss over the birket.. I attended the old bidston c of e primary school . The cattle you see in the picture belonged to the Povall's at stone farm.

The nightlife in Birkenhead in the mid 1980’s was brilliant. The old post office pub there was a female singer in there belting out great songs. I wonder where she is today. On to Ruperts and Atmosphere really brilliant venues. At the end of the night if you hadn’t got lucky onto the snooker hall or Scooby’s for a brilliant burger can still remember the taste. What’s it like now for nightlife anybody know?

If you drive through it now, blink and you have missed it. However, back in the day, a magistrate closed the pub there. The regulars had a habit of putting the Bidston lighthouse out and lighting a bonfire on the Bidston Moss. Thus, tempting boats entering the Mersey Bar onto the Hoyle Bank. At low tide, they would steal the cargo. The village wasn't allowed a pub until they built the Corsair.

We used to dig up bits of rail and track pins in the woods in Wirral grammar as kids, the old sandstone platform is still there
